Hamilton Altair

Watch Of The Future book says “The ‘Altair’ is a must for any collection of Hamilton Electrics“. I wouldn’t disagree, so I finally bought one from René Rondeau, the author of this excellent book on Hamilton Electrics.

And buying an Hamilton Altair from a reputable source like this is probably the safest option, since this model is seriously flawed. As stylish as it is, those lugs are barely attached to the case and many Altairs have broken or badly bent lugs; almost all have been repaired at some stage of their life.

The dial has a two-tone brushed effect, so if it has been refinished, make sure it has been done by a company who can reproduce this.

Released in 1961 with the 505 movement; 1600 produced.
