Benrus

The name “BENRUS” is derived from one of the three bothers that created the company in 1921, Benjamin Lazarus, and at one time, Benrus was the third largest manufacturer of watches in the US…after Hamilton and Bulova! In 1952, Ben Lazarus made an unsuccessful attempt to take over the Hamilton Watch Company; the company finally folded in 1977 due to the onslaught of cheap quartz movements.

You can read much more about the history of the Benrus Watch Company here but as far as electric watches are concerned, Benrus used a variety of movements including the LIP R148 / R184s and the ESA Dynotrons. They also used these movements in their cheaper brands: Belforte and Sovereign.
