Mad Men

Mad Men is an American dramatic television series created and produced by Matthew Weiner. The show is broadcast on the American cable network AMC and is produced by Lionsgate Television. In the US, premiered on July 19, 2007 and completed its third season on November 8, 2009. It has been renewed by AMC for a fourth season, which will air in 2010. In the UK, it is broadcast on BBC Four.

Mad Men is set in the 1960s, initially at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City, and later at the newly created firm of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. The show centers on Don Draper (Jon Hamm), creative director at Sterling Cooper and a founding partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, as well as those in his life in and out of the office. It also depicts the changing social mores of 1960s America.

One of the strengths of this excellent series is the accuracy of the period props. There are many fine watches to be seen but Series 3 Episode 5, which was broadcast in the UK on BBC Four on Wednesday 17th February 2010, beats them all! Play the small extract below to find out why:
